goodnight doctor, I want to ask again, I have friends who have HIV, doctors are advised to continue taking medication regularly and lifetime. what I want to ask is: in our country in Indonesia it's predominantly Islamic religion, and the religion of Islam that we have a tradition that requires us to fast from 04:30 to 18:00 hours, while my friend was taking them always at 08.00, how mensiasatinya ? please explain, thanksJan 28, 2017 at 01:33 AM

Thank you for your question. It’s good to know that you concern about your friend problem, HIV infection in Islamic with Ramadan time. First, this is so sensitive because it is traditional religion, anyway i honestly believe that your local country doctors know how to manage this condition and they have already prepared the way to treat their patients for a long time. So, don’t worry.
For anti-HIV drug, almost patient take pills twice a day and each time is 12 hours after that. Taking this medicines should not done lately for good effectiveness. In another way we also have anti-HIV drug regimen for taking once a day, also many side effects too. In my opinion, I would like your friend to open his mind to discuss this delicate condition with his doctor who give him medicine for continuing program.
